Information about MTU 11

The Central Illinois Regional Commission for Law Enforcement (CIRCLE) is one of sixteen mobile training units of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board (Police Training Board). In 1981 the State Legislature passed the Intergovernmental Law Enforcement Officers In-Service Training Act - Public Act 82-674 - which created the structure allowing units of local government to collectively form a Mobile Training Unit (MTU). Circle is a chartered, Illinois 501 3C not for profit corporation.

CIRCLE is the MTU which provides in-service training to law enforcement officers, corrections officers and coroners from Macon and DeWitt counties. Circle regularly receives students from Sangamon, McLean, Piatt, Shelby, Christian, and Moultrie counties for its training classes.

CIRCLE operates in a support role, serving participating units of government, law enforcement agencies, corrections facilities and coroner offices. MTU activity is primarily focused on training, however CIRCLE also can provide additional services and technical guidance in the areas of recruitment, selection, management, planning and policy formation.

Throughout the years, CIRCLE has become a trusted resource which law enforcement administrators, corrections administrators and coroners turn to for assistance.
